Meet Oathbreaker!This OTTB gelding was surrendered to us in September of 2025 and has been nothing short of a gentleman since he came into our lives. Prior to arriving at Longmeadow, Oathbreaker sustained a right front sesamoid fracture while on the track in May of 2025. Upon his arrival, he spent several months on stall rest and rehabilitation and proved to be the perfect patient throughout the process, especially for a young Thoroughbred. At the conclusion of his rehab, he was examined and cleared by a veterinarian before being evaluated by our trainers.During his evaluation, Oathbreaker was a polite gelding with a kind demeanor. The trainers found that he would stand quietly tied at the wall or in cross ties and was well-mannered for grooming and farrier work. He was also easy to tack up once evaluated under saddle. Lower in the pecking order, he got along well with others and would come up from the pasture without fuss or calling for his friends. All of these qualities still ring true today.He’s a slow-moving, go-with-the-flow type who takes life in stride. Brave and thoughtful, he has not shown any spooky or jumpy behavior in the time our trainers have worked with him.While he has not been officially restarted since his racing days, our trainers have ridden him a handful of times, mostly at the walk. Steering is still a work in progress (think driving a car without power steering fluid), but Oathbreaker has good brakes and can back like a pro. He has trotted under sadd
